Where is Cres?
Cres Croatia is 2.33 hours from Rijeka and 2.45 hours from Pula by road or 8 hours of glorious sailing in the bluest of waters the Adriatic has to offer, faster if there is more wind 🙂
Cres, pronounced Stress, an oxymoron if ever there was one. Cres is so peaceful and the people are extremely friendly. I feel like I’ve stepped back in time and I have. Things run at a much slower pace here. Tourist boats arrive at set times however as we are on our own boat we don’t come with the rush and it’s so much nicer. My first interest is to find a local coffee shop. This is what I do when I arrive in a new place, go for a coffee.
Why We Love Cres Croatia
Croatia is one of the most beautiful places in the world and its still rustic but is changing rapidly and at an alarming pace since entering the Euro the landscape and the prices so if its on your bucket list get there fast. This is my 4th time to Croatia and I’ve been all over the mainland and I’m about to start my second sailing trip in Croatia.
Cres is a sleepy little town in Istria.
Upon arrival the village is picturesque, larger vessels come in here and hopefully you will get to the cafe or restaurants before they arrive as service is very slow in a good way.
“There’s no stress in Cres” is the slogan.
And the locals are extremely friendly and laid back.
From gardens of fresh fruit that tourists have taken to stealing. Beware the locals are not impressed so don’t ruin it for everyone … to lovely towers and vineyards that you can climb and view the whole area for miles.
Sit back, have a glass of wine or a coffee and take it all in. Its so laid back here that’s all there is to do. Cant beat the serenity.
